This install on this vehicle was a little tricky to start with. As you can see there's a major lack of space. |

The heater hoses were easy to get to, although installation of the other required components were a little more difficult to install as you'll see below. |

Attached to each heater hose are the fuel heaters (green).For this, the heater hose was cut allowing the attachment to be made (basically this was the only place these could be mounted). |

The green fuel filter (top of the picture) replaces the original filter. Reason for this we needed to keep the UVO filter as close to the fuel heaters as well as the Pollak valve. Also visible is the semi clear fuel line near the bottom of the picture. | ![]() |
Everything was getting a little cramped, almost no room to move. Therefore, behind the power steering reservoir we installed the Pollak valve. | ![]() |
Tee pieces are installed to allow the heater to fuction properly, while providing the required heat for the fuel heaters. | ![]() |
As this picture shows, a very incredibly tight fit all round - but also proves installation can be obtained within the smallest of spaces ! | ![]() |

This ia a manual system with a little bright and annoying light, reminding you that you're running on diesel. A very basic concept, just 'flick' the switch and you're driving around on UVO. | ![]() |
The original tank was used for the UVO and another tank (approximatey 15 litres) was added for the diesel.The diesel tank was then mounted inside boot (within the space saver wheel).
A fuel line was then added from the new tank, connecting to the Pollak valve with no return.
I looked at mounting the fuel heaters and pollak valve underneath the front guard behind the bumper, (because of the tight space I had under the bonnet) but even the room there was a little tight, but would have been brilliant because when you lifted the bonnet you wouldn't have known that the car had been converted.
The whole system cost $1500.00 which included;
15 metres of fuel line
2 x Fuel heaters
15cm Heater hose
1 x Fuel filter top
1 x fuel filter element
25 x hose clamps
1 x Pollak Valve
Numerous cable ties
Fuel tank
Labour
Note: This car is getting around 25-30kms per litre of diesel, when used around town(for starting and stopping), and anywhere from 500-1000km on approxiamtely 5 litres diesel when travelling out of town.
The longer the drive the better the return.
